The Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) has issued a statement marking the ninth anniversary of the Rohingya Genocide Remembrance Day on 25 August 2026.
The statement remembers the Rohingya victims of the violence and persecution experienced by the community over successive decades, including the mass displacement and atrocities of 2017. It also reflects on the long history of suffering faced by the Rohingya and the continuing challenges confronting those who remain in Arakan State and those displaced outside Myanmar.
ARSA reaffirms the Rohingya people's right to return to their ancestral homeland and calls for any future return to be safe, voluntary, dignified, and sustainable, with citizenship, freedom of movement, restitution of property, security, and protection of fundamental rights.
